One of the most popular exhibits in the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum is the story of Owney, the scruffy mutt who became the unofficial mascot of the Railway Mail Service in the late 19th century. The Museum has brought the true story of Owney to life through beautiful animation and a fun (and historically accurate) story, "Owney: Tales from the Rails," written by Jerry Rees with songs by Stephen Michael Schwartz and illustrations by Fred Cline. The book is narrated and songs are performed by American country singer, songwriter, and actor Trace Adkins.
