
As you can imagine, there are many different types of transportation the Post Office has employed to move mail over the years. In the late 19th century, mail trolleys began to be used to deliver mail in cities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Chicago and Cincinnati. Customers were receiving their mail faster than ever before. At the August Lunchtime Lecture, Nancy Pope, the museum’s Chief Curator of Postal History talked about how mail trolleys worked and the cities they were used in.
