Moore of the State University of New York at Buffalo discusses her book, "To Serve My Country, To Serve My Race: The Story of the Only African American WACs Stationed Overseas during World War II". Mary McLeod Bethune played a pivotal role in the overseas assignment of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-black, all female Women’s Army Corps unit deployed to England and France to clear a backlog of undelivered military mail addressed to soldiers at the front.
